Little Shop of Horrors brings musical comedy and horror-comedy to The White Theatre - Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City in Leawood, Kansas, on February 21, 2027. This Theatre event in the Musical / play category is part of the production's scheduled run at the venue, which spans January 30 through February 21, 2027. Event details and ticket information are available from ticketskansascity.org.
Created by composer Alan Menken and writer-lyricist Howard Ashman, the show began off-Broadway in 1982 and became a lasting cult favorite. Its story follows Seymour Krelborn, a shy flower-shop assistant whose unusual plant, Audrey II, develops an appetite for more than sunlight. The production pairs sharp humor and a doo-wop-influenced score with the growing plant's theatrical puppetry.
Audiences may recognize songs including “Skid Row (Downtown),” “Somewhere That's Green,” “Suddenly Seymour,” and “Feed Me (Git It).” The two-act musical typically runs about two hours, including an intermission, and balances its lively numbers with themes of ambition, love, and the consequences of getting what you want. The White Theatre's Leawood setting places the show within the Kansas City area's wider arts community. Prices currently start around $40–$150, with availability and seat location affecting the final cost.
